Terms of Service
These are the terms that apply when you buy from Roughcut Cedar Co. at roughcutcedarco.com or in person. We've kept the legalese to a minimum, but these terms are still a real agreement: by placing an order, you're agreeing to what's written here.
Who we are
Roughcut Cedar Co. is a Missouri handcrafted woodworking business — two guys and a garage, building planters, cutting boards, keepsake boxes, and custom pieces. You can reach us at orders@roughcutcedarco.com.
Handmade means handmade
Every piece we sell is made by hand from real wood. Grain, color, and small details vary from board to board — that's the nature of the material and part of what makes each piece yours. Photos on the site are representative of what you'll receive, but your piece won't be pixel-identical to the picture. We do our best to describe dimensions, materials, and finishes accurately, and we'll correct any errors we find.
Pricing and payment
We use cash-discount pricing: the price posted on the site is our cash price, and separate card and bank (ACH) pricing is shown at checkout before you pay. Payments on the website are processed by Finix by card or ACH bank payment. Cash is accepted for local pickup and in-person sales. All prices are in U.S. dollars, and applicable taxes are your responsibility where they apply.
Orders, acceptance, and cancellation
Placing an order is an offer to buy; we accept it when we confirm it. We reserve the right to decline or cancel an order — for example, if an item is listed at an obviously wrong price, if we can't source suitable material, or if we simply can't fulfill it. If we cancel an order you've already paid for, we'll refund you in full, promptly.
Custom work
Custom pieces start with a conversation: you tell us what you have in mind, we send you a quote, and work begins after you approve it. Depending on the project, we may ask for a deposit before we start. Because custom pieces are built to your specifications, they're non-returnable — except for defects in materials or workmanship, which we'll always stand behind. See our Shipping & Returns page for the details.
Shipping and returns
Shipping rates, delivery options, and our returns policy are laid out on the Shipping & Returns page, which is part of these terms.
Limitation of liability
We stand behind our work, and if something we built has a defect, we'll make it right. But to the fullest extent permitted by law, our total liability for any claim connected to an order is limited to the amount you paid for that order, and we aren't liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages. Wood products need reasonable care — keepsake boxes don't like dishwashers, and cutting boards need oiling — and we can't be responsible for damage from misuse or ordinary wear.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Missouri, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. When we do, we'll post the new version here and update the date at the top. The terms in effect when you place your order are the ones that apply to it.
